What is the Universal Tower Defense Tier List?
The Universal Tower Defense (UTD) Tier List is a comprehensive ranking system that categorizes all available units in the game based on their performance, utility, and cost-efficiency. Since UTD features characters from various anime universes like Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach, the power gap between units can be significant.
Our rankings are updated for the latest Update 5 and take into account several critical factors:
- DPS (Damage Per Second): The raw damage output a unit can deal. Essential for clearing high-HP bosses in Raids.
- Utility & Crowd Control: Units that can Stun, Slow (Ice), or Bleed enemies are valued highly, even if their damage is lower.
- Economy (Placement Cost): How expensive is the unit to deploy and upgrade? Cheap starters are crucial for Story Mode.
- Range & AoE: Units with full map range or massive Area of Effect (AoE) attacks are prioritized for Infinite Mode.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Tier List updated for the latest update?
Yes! We update this list within 24 hours of every major game update (like Update 5). We test new units like Titan TV Man immediately to see where they fit in the meta.
Do Traits affect the ranking?
This list assumes units have Standard or decent traits. However, a "Godly" trait (like Ruler) can push an A-tier unit into S-tier performance. Check our Traits Guide for more info.
What is the best unit in UTD right now?
Currently, the best unit is generally considered to be Berserker due to its massive AoE damage and ability to hit air units.
Why is a Mythic unit ranked low?
Rarity doesn't always equal power. Some older Mythics suffer from "power creep" and deal less damage than newer Legendary units. We rank based on actual in-game performance, not just rarity color.
